Approved profile means the application has been accepted for publication. This label alone does not confirm identity verification, a criminal record check or walker insurance.

Care at every step

A safer walk starts with good preparation.

The walker’s profile, your dog’s details, a clearly defined time and a booking overview help both sides understand the agreement.

More information, less uncertainty.

Before sending a request, review important information about the walker and other owners’ experiences.

Important: protection limits and the 18+ rule

Owner and walker accounts are exclusively for people aged 18 or older. The age confirmation is a user declaration, not an identity document check. Membership of a youth cooperative is not an exception to this rule.

Šapica currently provides no insurance for walks, dogs, owners or walkers, and no fund guaranteeing compensation. This does not exclude liability imposed by law.

Systematic identity document, criminal record and professional qualification checks of walkers have not been introduced. An approved profile, verified email or profile badge does not certify such checks or guarantee safety. Do not email copies of identity documents.

Before handing over your dog, meet the walker, check equipment and share instructions about behaviour, health and the veterinarian contact. Do not hand over the dog if you have safety concerns. Do not put home addresses, access codes or other people’s data in public descriptions.

In an emergency, first protect people and the animal and contact a veterinarian or the appropriate emergency service, then notify the owner. Šapica support is not an emergency service and 24-hour support is not provided. Report incidents or suspicious profiles using the contact below.

During the current preparation stage, bookings and online payments are not open. Walk guidance describes preparation for future use, not a guarantee that the service is already available.

Before, during and after the walk

Four important safety steps.

Good preparation and clear communication are just as important as the walk itself.

01

Get to know the walker

Review the profile, description, municipality, price, ratings and previous customers’ comments.

02

Share important details

Tell the walker about your dog’s habits, behaviour around other dogs and any special needs.

03

Arrange the handover

Agree on the place, time, leash, equipment and how your dog will be returned after the walk.

04

Review the completed walk

Check the booking status and photos added by the walker.

Shared responsibility

Owners and walkers both play an important role.

A safe walk depends on accurate information, suitable equipment and keeping to the agreed time.

OWNER’S RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare your dog and important information.

Provide accurate dog details when booking.

Explain how your dog reacts to people, dogs and traffic.

Prepare a suitable leash, collar or harness.

Tell the walker about health issues and special needs.

Leave a contact number where you can be reached during the walk.

WALKER’S RESPONSIBILITIES

Respect the agreement and the dog’s needs.

Read the request carefully before accepting.

Arrive on time and check the dog’s equipment.

Do not let the dog off the leash without the owner’s explicit agreement.

Avoid situations that could endanger the dog or others.

Inform the owner if there is a problem or a change of plan.

If something does not go to plan

Act calmly and without delay.

In an emergency, the safety of the dog, people and other animals comes first.

01

Keep the dog and surroundings safe

Move the dog away from traffic, other animals or any immediate source of danger.

02

Contact the owner immediately

Explain what happened, where you are and the dog’s current condition.

03

Seek professional help

If needed, contact the nearest veterinary clinic or appropriate emergency service.

04

Keep important information

Record the time, place and circumstances so the owner has a clear account of the situation.

Tips for the first walk

Make the first walk easier.

A brief introduction before the first booking can help the dog and walker feel more comfortable.

Start with a shorter walk

Choose a shorter first walk to see how your dog adjusts to the walker.

Introduce them beforehand

If possible, arrange a brief meeting between the owner, dog and walker before the first independent walk.

Leave clear instructions

Explain the usual route, commands your dog knows and situations to avoid.

Important note

No platform can eliminate every risk.

Šapica provides information and tools to help you choose and arrange walks. Owners and walkers must still assess each situation and act responsibly.
